Dr. Rigoberto Advincula is well known gor his significant contributions to polymer chemistry, nanotechnology and materials that are usefl for applications as sensors, improved displays, solar celles and bio-implants. Dr. Advicula basically invented specialty polymers used as thin films for electronic devises and sensors. In 2006, he developed a sensor device for the pico-molar and real-time detection of nerve agent using an electrochemically cross-linked ultrathin dendrimer film. The sensing of the nerve gas (a chemical weapon for mass destruction) at very low levels is very important for security reasons.
