In recognition of her pioneering work on the discovery of the novel Pandanus alkaloids, which became significant contribution to the Chemistry of Alkaloids establishing the Genus Pandanus as a new source of alkaloids. These types of alkaloids show interesting biologically activities prompting organic chemists to carry out syntheses of these structurally unique alkaloids. She has promoted multidisciplinary research on Philippine medicinal plants by mentoring young researchers and generously imparts her expertise in natural products to the scientific community.
