In recognition of his most outstanding contributions and accomplishments in the field of microbiology, particularly his pioneering work on vaccine development from the cytoplasmic, ribosome-rich fraction of Fusobacterium necrophorum,a nonsporing anaerobe that causes necrobacillosis in animals and man and causes significant economic losses in the cattle and sheep industry, that has paved the way for subsequent studies to elaborate the various pathogenic mechanisms underlying the production of hepatic disease. This study was considered a milestone by other scientists in this field and veterinary products manufacturers who were also in search for effective vaccines against bovine necrobacillosis.
