Dr. Leonardo Q. Liongson is recognized for his outstanding contributions and accomplishments in the field of hydrology, hydraulics and water resources engineering and management, flood control, lahar flow control and disaster mitigation. As team leader, researcher and teacher, he has investigated water-supply systems, environmental and water-quality modeling and assessment of surface water and groundwater systems using physical and mathematical modeling techniques (including sediment and lahar flows), flow measurement and water balance studies. Dr. Liongson built a database of groundwater resources for Metro Manila and the Laguna Lake basis and studied historical aspects of Manila’s drainage system and the country’s physical infrastructure.
